Is there any chance Plex can play the new MP4 containers with 4K Dolby Vision HDR secondary video tracks? Would be amazing on the AppleTV and Mac / PC. Minor stuff I noticed the tomatoes ratings are also cropped like the Mac and the. Installed 3 but it wants me to reboot so I'll report later.ĮDIT: Windows 3.0 works perfectly as well. Also the tomatoes rating in 3.0 is chopped off at the bottom (was ok before). UI things I noticed 2.44 had jaggies on the blur gradients (8-bit color?) and now it's smooth. The Plex app works perfectly and using DirectPlay (4K HDR). It's transcoding (HEVC -> H264) instead of DirectPlay. On the Mac (2017 MBP macOS 10.15), the PMP app does not play 4K HDR correctly.
It seems Plex app is just a browser window to the website so I'm guessing PMP is native (?) although comparing the two right now, the Plex app works better. If I left defects open as long as Plex my company would be out a significant number of clients, and I would be out a job. But the culture there could be one that doesn't allow that. Also the devs are partially to blame, they could push back. The management at Plex is to blame for all of the crap people are upset about. They have since removed features from the product so what I paid for is not what I have access to any longer.
The massive amount of backlash seems to indicate otherwise. They love to tell us "we made this change because it is clearly what users want" when it really isn't. Their priorities are wrong, and that comes down to management.

Whether they like it or not it is software for power users and they are removing the primary desire of power users. It has been getting worse in recent years and I really hope they can get it figured out. At least I am writing it in a way that I can easily rip out Plex when the time inevitabely comes. Of course I say all this as I write an application that interfaces with the plexapi. Have been a user since 2014 and in that time I have seen countless "improvements" of the software that no one wanted and just broke shit or took away useful features.
Not an edit: bring on the downvotes since Plex can do no wrong. I am convinced Plex doesn't give a shit about the users or their experience, so naturally they will kill it. It is the best possible Plex experience you can have atm. I really don't get why you stopped support for that.
